A Mykonos wedding photographer’s story of Martina and Justin: preparations and a reception party at Hippie Fish Mykonos Hotel, with a Catholic ceremony at the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary in Chora.
Photographed by Nik Pekridis · 2 September 2023

As a Mykonos wedding photographer, I followed Martina and Justin’s celebration on 2 September 2023. Their preparations and reception party took place at Hippie Fish Mykonos Hotel, while their Catholic ceremony was held at the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary in Chora. Aegean portraits, live music and a first dance complete the story.
The photographs move between intimate frames and wider scenes: a suit prepared before the celebration, the white flowers around the ceremony entrance, relaxed portraits in the island light, and guests gathering by the sea. Each setting adds its own atmosphere while keeping Martina and Justin at the centre of the story.
The Aegean in the opening frame
Mykonos appears first through its relationship with the water. White waterfront buildings meet the Aegean, where the shoreline and waves bring movement and texture. The view gives the photographs a clear sense of place, while the open composition leaves room for the couple’s story to lead.

As sunset deepens, Martina and Justin share a quiet kiss beside the water, with the last light reflecting across the Aegean.

Getting ready at Hippie Fish Mykonos Hotel
The quieter preparations at Hippie Fish Mykonos Hotel give the story a softer beginning. Martina and Justin got ready at the hotel before the ceremony. Justin’s light suit hangs ready by the window, while bridal details and a champagne moment preserve the small choices and textures that can disappear in the rush of the day.

A Catholic ceremony at Our Lady of the Rosary in Mykonos Town
In Chora, Martina and Justin celebrated their Catholic ceremony at the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary (Panagia tou Rodariou). The ceremony added a meaningful moment in the heart of Mykonos Town before the couple continued with portraits by the Aegean.
Portraits framed by flowers and island light
White flowers frame Martina and Justin beneath an entrance arch, while a bridal portrait turns toward the sea. Pink bougainvillea adds a soft, colorful note; black-and-white frames capture both an intimate kiss beneath the veil and a playful moment of laughter. A quieter portrait against pale island architecture completes this mix of setting, movement and connection.

The portraits also turn inward: a quiet kiss beneath the veil, followed by a playful moment as Martina lifts it and the two share a laugh.

A reception party at Hippie Fish Mykonos Hotel
After the ceremony and portraits, the celebrations continued at Hippie Fish Mykonos Hotel, where the entire reception party took place. Candlelit tables, flowers and glassware set a warm scene by the sea. Martina and Justin shared a toast with their guests before live music led into their first dance. They cut the wedding cake together, and fireworks brought the celebration to a close above the Aegean.

When the music gives way to the final part of the evening, Martina and Justin cut their cake and watch fireworks above the water.

Choosing a Mykonos wedding photographer when planning from abroad
If you are travelling from the United States, the United Kingdom or Australia to marry in Mykonos, a clear photography timeline can help you enjoy the day without rushing between moments. Share the ceremony and reception locations with your photographer in advance, leave breathing room for transfers, and decide which parts of the day matter most to you. That conversation can shape a plan around your celebration instead of turning the day into a checklist of locations.
Mykonos has a distinctive coastal atmosphere, and the strongest photographs make space for both the scenery and the people who have travelled to celebrate with you. Whether you are planning an intimate gathering or a larger destination wedding, your photography should feel natural to your plans.
